DCCT to have elections

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Community Theatre’s annual election meeting will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the multi-purpose room of the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

All members are urged to attend. Nominations and voting on the nominations will occur, President Rodney Kjell said. Offices open in this election are the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and one of the three members of the board at large.

In the past year, DCCT has begun Theater Thursdays on the first Thursday of the month, during which acting techniques are learned and practiced. May had a special workshop on directing. A year ago, DCCT produced “Born Yesterday,” a comedy in which the romantic interest turns the tables on her soon-to-be-erstwhile shady business boyfriend when he wants her to get cultured. Near the ides of March, a Shakespeare sampler with scenes from six of the bard’s best was presented.

DCCT provided scholarships for several children to the Missoula Children’s Theater. In November, “A Christmas Story” will be featured the weekend before Thanksgiving with a local cast of kids and actors under the direction of Fred Jump and assistant director Abigail Kjell.

In mid-winter, Stephanie M. Gauthier will organize “A Season in an Evening,” a selection of one-act plays with a dramatic presentation to come in the spring to be directed by Phil Wentz. In the middle of all this, a DCCT winter party is being planned for January. Future Stars Acting Company, supported by DCCT, is planning another production and is remembered for the holiday presentation of “Elf” last year.
