Marquette plans celebration of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum

Marquette — The Northern Michigan University ALLIES, a faculty, student and staff organization, will host MQT Comes Out, a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, from 5 to 8 p.m. Eastern time Friday.

Hosted by Ore Dock Brewing Company, a local tavern specializing in unique brews, MQT Comes Out will showcase personal stories, informational booths from community and student organizations and an open mic.

During this event, NMU ALLIES will sell T-shirts to raise money for the Allies Scholarships Fund. Established in 2001, the ALLIES scholarship was created for students who exhibit leadership and involvement in organizations, activities or issues that promote awareness and acceptance of the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered (LGBTQIA+) community at Northern Michigan University.

Tees will range in adult sizes and cost $15. They will read “MQT Pride” on the front and “Thanks for coming out with NMU Allies” on the back. Go to https://form.jotform.com/92649051419158 to place order.

For more information, shareable content and updates, go to their Facebook page “MQT Comes Out 2019.”
