AARP seeks volunteers for tax season
IRON MOUNTAIN – AARP Foundation is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season by recruiting individuals interested in tax preparation.
Tax-Aide is an AARP Foundation program that aims to provide high-quality, free income tax preparation to low- and moderate-income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 and older.
Last year, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers helped more than 70,000 Michigan residents file their federal and state tax returns. The program is offered at nearly 200 sites in Michigan — six in the Upper Peninsula — including senior centers, libraries and other convenient locations.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers receive training and continued support in a welcoming environment. Volunteer tax preparers complete tax preparation training and IRS certification before working with taxpayers.
Preparers are needed in the Iron Mountain area.
Those interested in becoming a Tax-Aide volunteer can sign up at aarpfoundation.org/taxaide, or call 888-227-7669 toll-free.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is offered in coordination with the IRS.
