MARQUETTE — The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Alger/Marquette will have an informal presentation on QPR Suicide Prevention at 7 p.m. Eastern time Monday in the conference room of Baraga Place, 129 W. Baraga Ave. in Marquette.

Judi Krause of Northstar Employee Assistance Program will discuss the QPR — question, persuade, refer — approach for those considering suicide: Question the individual, persuade he or she to get help and refer for help.

NAMI offers free, confidential peer support groups and educational meetings for individuals living with mental illness, and friends or families living with an individual with mental illness.

In case of bad weather, if Northern Michigan University cancels evening classes, NAMI also will cancel.
