Crystal Falls library plans event on India

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Crystal Falls Community Library will feature India during its Global Explorers Story Hour at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7. They will read “Festival of Colors,” by Kabir Sehgal.

They will learn all about the Indian Holiday of Holi, also called the Festival of Colors. Holi marks the end of winter and commemorates the victory of good over evil. Holi is not a religious festival; it is simply a day for having fun.

Participants should wear white or light colored clothing that can be stained, as they will be throwing colored powder in the air to dance through, just like they do in India to become rainbows of color. Children will also be making their own Taj Mahal using a technique called pietra dura. Each child will receive a complimentary book on India.
