Ferris State and Kendall College of Art and Design lists honor roll, graduates

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Officials have announced that 3,974 students received academic honors for the semester that ended in December 2019 at Ferris State University and Kendall College of Art and Design.

To be eligible for academic honors, the minimum requirements for full-time students each term are: 3.5 grade-point average and completion of 12 Ferris credit hours or more of graded course work at the 100 level or higher. The minimum requirements for part-time students each term are: 3.5 GPA with completion of at least 12 accumulated Ferris credit hours of graded course work at the 100 level or higher.

Kingsford — Bo Stuck, Avery Streckert;

Bark River — Jacob Greenfield and Hailey Strahl;

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Nine hundred and sixty-five students completed the requirements for certificates, associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at Ferris State University and Kendall College of Art and Design during the semester that ended in December 2019.

Degrees awarded by the university included doctor of education, doctor of optometry, doctor of pharmacy, master of business administration, master of education in curriculum and instruction, master of fine arts, master of science in information systems management, master of science in nursing, master of science in career and technical education, master of science info security and intelligence, bachelor of applied science, bachelor of arts, bachelor of fine arts, bachelor of integrative studies, bachelor of science, bachelor of science in business, bachelor of science in nursing, bachelor of social work, associate in applied science, associate in arts, associate in science and certificate.

Students graduating with honors were recognized for high academic achievement on the basis of grade-point averages computed on a 4.0 scale. Undergraduate degree designations use Latin levels of recognition: summa cum laude, 3.9 to 4.0; magna cum laude, 3.75 to 3.89; and cum laude, 3.5 to 3.74.

Academic honors designations for students graduating with a master’s degree in the colleges of Health Professions, Business, and Education and Human Services use the following distinction key: highest distinction, 3.9 to 4.0; and distinction, 3.75 to 3.89. Students receiving their doctorate degree from the Michigan College of Optometry and the College of Pharmacy use the English system: highest distinction, 3.75 to 4.0; high distinction, 3.5 to 3.74; and distinction, 3.25 to 3.49. Kendall students’ levels of recognition are academic honors, 3.5 to 4.0, and Studio Excellence Award.

Norway — Allison Lucier, BS, nursing;

Iron River — Shaylee Meyer, CERT, quality technology and performance motorsports;

Iron Mountain — Austin Blomquist, BS, marketing;

Bark River — Jacob Greenfield, BS, plastics engineering technology.

MILWAUKEE — Maria Wiltzius was named to the Cardinal Stritch University’s dean’s list.

Wiltzius achieves a 4.000 grade-point average for the first semester of the 2019-2020 academic year.

Plymouth, Wis. — Angela Carollo, a freshman from Iron Mountain, was among 323 students named to the Lakeland University dean’s list for the 2019 fall semester, carrying 16 credits and earning a 3.96 grade point average. 

The graphic design major has two cooperative education jobs in Sheboygan at the Weill Center for the Performing Arts and the Above and Beyond Children’s Museum. 

Carollo is the daughter of James and Lisa Carollo of Iron Mountain.

MILWAUKEE — Two local students have been named to the dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for the fall 2019 semester.

They are Caleb Plumley of Iron Mountain and Amanda Lukowicz of Niagara, Wis.

WHITEWATER, Wis. — Emily Murdock from Iron Mountain earned a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at winter commencement Dec. 21.

Murdock graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of business administration in entrepreneurship.

Rice Lake, Wis. — Amy Larson of Crystal Falls graduated from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.

Mequon, Wis. — Concordia University Wisconsin officials have released the fall honors list for the 2019-2020 academic year. To be eligible for the honor, students must achieve a minimum 3.60 grade-point average.

Among the area students named to the list were:

Crystal Falls — Analise Taylor;

Iron Mountain — Hannah Carlson, Sarah Harris and Sarah Nawn.

MILWAUKEE — Britta Grayvold, formerly of Norway, received academic honors from Milwaukee School of Engineering for the 2020 winter quarter.

She was placed on the honors list for earning a GPA of at least 3.20 out of 4.0.

HOUGHTON — Teiona Fuson of Vulcan, majoring in medical laboratory science, was named to the dean’s list for the 2019 fall semester at Michigan Technological University in Houghton.

To be included, students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Fuson is a graduate of Norway High School.
