Kristin Novara’s second-grade class proudly displays the limmi sticks they have been using to practice for their Music Around the World concert. From left, in the front row are Ana Carpenter, Gabe Zuem, Bently Carter, Porter Van Wolvelaere, Niles Brown, Lily Barker, Ella Melnik, Josslyn Hill and Nevaeh Romback; in the middle are Ayden Stevens and Tristan Graham; in back are Sophia Barrientos, Gabe Mancuso, Lim Stromberg, Lucas Sparks, Teddy Gustafson, Ayden Tempe, Gavin Robertson, Dalani McBride, Ethan Esqueda and Kylynn Willems.
The general music program at Woodland Elementary School in Kingsford recently received a $15 grand from the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel to purchase new Lummi sticks, Lummi stick activities, and a resource for bucket drumming. Students from early kindergarten through fifth grade are utilizing these instruments and resources daily to enhance their learning and performances.
