St. Urho’s Day celebration planned for March 14

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Finnish American Raja Ryhma group, whose members share an interest in preserving their Finnish heritage and culture, will celebrate their mythical hero, St. Urho, on Saturday, March 14, at the Recreation Lanes Antoine Room in Iron Mountain.

Everyone is invited to attend.

The meet and greet begins at noon and a buffet meal catered by Zollner’s will be served at 1 p.m. Paula D will provide music for listening and dancing for the afternoon. The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. Prepaid reservations can be sent to Raja Ryhma at P. O. Box 565, Iron Mountain, MI 49801.

St. Urho is sure to make an appearance and lead the grand march with his 2020 Queen of the Vineyard. They also will have St. Urho trivia and prizes to be awarded.

“You do not have to be Finnish to join in the fun, just enjoy being with Finns,” group member Karen Wertanen said.
