DC Library continues to service community

IRON MOUNTAIN — During this unprecedented time, the Dickinson County Library continues to serve its community with online services and virtual programming.

In compliance with the executive order from the governor, all Dickinson County Library sites will remain closed to the public through Thursday, May 28.

The library is working diligently on a safe plan to reopen. More information on that plan will be announced before the end of May.

“Thank you for your patience during this time; we look forward to assisting you with all your information needs as soon as possible,” said Megan Buck, library director.

The library’s online resources continue to be available, and patrons with questions e-mail dcl@dcl-lib.org. In addition, new patrons can sign up for a temporary virtual card using the link on the website, www.dcl-lib.org. This virtual card will allow access to our digital resources until the library reopens, at which time new patrons can convert their temporary card into a permanent card.

The Dickinson County Library does not charge late fees for overdue materials.

All library book drops remain closed for returns and all due dates have been extended. Library users should hold on to any materials they have checked out and do not leave them outside the library at this time.

The Dickinson County Library helps the community finds its story.

“We hope you will visit our Facebook page for new information and virtual programming, including stories, science experiments, and crafts with our staff,” Buck said.

The public also can find links to access digital collections, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on the website.

Digital services include downloadable eBooks and audiobooks (Overdrive), downloadable magazines (RB Digital), foreign language learning (Mango Languages), World Book Encyclopedia digital edition and other online databases including Chilton Library, Global Road Warrior, and AtoZ USA.

More electronic resources also can be found at http://Mel.org.

“Finally, there is enough local history information available on our website to keep you busy well into the summer,” Buck said.

Starting at $4.00/week.
