The Presidential Honor Award was established by the Bay de Noc Community College Foundation in July of 1997 in honor of Dwight E. Link, president emeritus of Bay College. The award recognizes students graduating with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average who demonstrate outstanding leadership and substantial involvement on campus.

Swick is a student at the Bay College West in Iron Mountain. She chose Bay College because she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do after high school and thought Bay West offered her the flexibility to explore her interests. She credits the college’s staff who helped her to succeed and find her passion. Swick will earn an associate in arts degree with a concentration in sociology. Swick plans to transfer to a four-year school to continue her education in sociology and human services.

During her time at Bay, she has worked at the IT Center as a tutor and as a supplemental instructor. She also has volunteered at the Bay West Family Fun Night and Pride Club.

O’Driscoll is an early middle college student at Bay College through Escanaba High School. She is graduating with an associate in science degree with a focus in chemistry. She plans to attend Northern Michigan University next fall and study toward a double major in clinical lab science and secondary education in chemistry.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting and snuggling with her dog at her home in Escanaba. She was part of the group that started the new Circle K Club at Bay College this past fall and currently serves as the secretary on the Bay Circle K Board. O’Driscoll chose Bay College because it gave her the opportunity to stay in her hometown while transitioning to being a college student. She is thankful to Bay College for all of the opportunities and the professors who constantly support their students.
