Anti-Racism Prayer Vigil on Sunday in Crystal Falls

CRYSTAL FALLS — All Iron County residents are invited to join local citizens, lay leaders and clergy at 7 p.m. Sunday for a Anti-Racism Prayer Vigil at Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp, 138 Fortune Lake Camp Road in Crystal Falls .

“Recent national news of the killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd highlight the ongoing history of anti-black racism and its violent outcomes. We are called by faith to pray and by conscience to act — to show that Black Lives Matter,” said Greta Seidohl, event spokeswoman.

This is a family-friendly event and a space for grief and lament. Social distancing will be maintained, with participants asked to maintain at least a 6 feet distance from other people. If possible, those attending should wear a protective face mask. The location will be chosen to prioritize social distancing. Those not feeling well should not attend but can join the effort in prayer from their hearts and homes.

No public restrooms will be available, so plan to take care of needs before and after the vigil.

Bringing lawn chairs or a blanket is permissable for those who would prefer to sit rather than stand during the vigil.
