Three awarded Tortelli scholarships
IRON MOUNTAIN — Each year Bishop Baraga Catholic School grants the Tortelli Family Scholarship to high school seniors who graduated from eighth grade at Bishop Baraga Catholic School.
This year, a total of $17,000 was granted to five students. The majority of the scholarship funds went to three graduating seniors. Zachary Hanson was awarded $3,000 and plans to enter a welding program. Kolbe Raiche was awarded $5,000 and will be studying mechanical engineering. Eric Sommerfeld received $5,000 to pursue a forestry degree.
Two renewal scholarships also were granted to Allison Sparpana, a student at the University of Michigan, and Megan Arndt, a student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Students who attended Bishop Baraga Catholic School for fifth through eighth grade are eligible to receive this scholarship. Bishop Baraga Catholic School is grateful to Ronald and Diana Tortelli, who founded this scholarship in memory of Ronald’s parents.
