Gill awarded Masonic Scholarship

CASSANDRA GILL

FLORENCE, Wis. — Cassandra “Cassie” Gill is Niagara High School’s Class of 2020 recipient of the Hiram D. Fisher Masonic Scholarship.

The $1,000 scholarship award is provided annually to high school seniors at Niagara High School and Florence High School by the members of the Hiram D. Fisher Masonic Lodge of Florence, with additional matching funding provided by the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation.

Those selected for the awards must have demonstrated community and religious involvement, leadership, and service and have exhibited potential for future achievement.

She is the daughter of Robert and Kim Gill. She has excelled in the classroom and in many co-curricular activities.

Gill graduated ranked second in her class and was a member of the National Honor Society and earned M&O Conference all-conference recognition for academics. A talented athlete, she earned varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and track. In addition to being the volleyball Most Valuable Player, Gill also earned all-conference recognition in basketball and volleyball and was a deserving recipient of the prestigious M&O Conference Achievers Award.

She also was recognized as a leader by her teachers, coaches and peers. Beyond athletics, Gill was active in student council, theatre, One-Act Play, forensics and participated in the school’s Academic Bowl and Hi-Q teams.

A member of Badgers United, Gill volunteered many hours of community service including participation with the Dominican Republic service trip and locally with the Salvation Army and assisting with spaghetti dinner fundraisers and bagging groceries.

She plans to major in psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
