Foster inducted into DKG’s Beta Sigma Chapter

NORWAY — Sara Foster was inducted into the Beta Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International at its outdoor meeting Aug. 5 at Marian Park Pavilion in Norway.

DKG is an honorary international organization of women educators that promotes professional and personal growth of woman educators and excellence in education.

Beta Sigma Chapter’s current membership includes women educators from Dickinson, Delta, Menominee and neighboring Wisconsin’s Marinette, Oconto and Florence counties.

Foster has been a school psychologist for more than 30 years, and is currently the school psychologist for the School District of Florence in Florence, Wis. She is a member of Florence County AODA/ Mental Health Coalition and is the current QPR (Suicide Prevention) gatekeeper trainer.

She also is a member of American Association of University Women, the National Association of School Psychologists and the Wisconsin School Psychologists Association. Foster was a former youth Mental Health First Aid instructor and a former Disaster Mental Health Volunteer with the American Red Cross.

While working as the school psychologist/ elementary counselor/special education leadership designee for the School District of Niagara, she also was past president of the Niagara Education Association. She was the recipient in 2017 of the Wisconsin Council of Administrators of Special Services Award.

Foster grew up in Norway, and is a graduate of Norway High School. She attended Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich., where she received her bachelor of arts degree in psychology. She then received her master of science degree in school psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wis.

She furthered her education by receiving a Thanatology Certification from Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wis., in 2015.

She resides in Niagara, Wis. She is an avid pet lover and enjoys her two new dog additions, Sir Mighty Moose Rufflebum, or “Moose,” and Sir Maximus Malarkey, or “Max.” She enjoys taking road trips, visiting her step-daughters and their children, and also her nieces, nephews and their families.

During quiet time, she enjoys reading, knitting, crocheting and learning new craft skills. She enjoys nature, her yard and her garden.
