P.E.O. is a Philanthropic Educational Organization that promotes the advancement of women’s education. What started with a friendship among seven women while they were attending college in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1869 is now among the oldest women’s organizations in North America with almost 6,000 chapters.

It is a non-profit organization that has helped more than 109,000 women pursue educational goals by providing nearly $348 million in grants, scholarships, awards and loans. In addition to the educational philanthropies, the P.E.O. sisterhood offers much more. We are an organization of women who promote each member’s individual gifts, strive to live our faith and enrich our fellowship and friendship among our members.
