Senator McBroom to speak at State Retirees luncheon Sept. 14
ED McBROOM
ESCANABA — Senator Ed McBroom will be the featured speaker at the fall meeting of the 906 Chapter of State Employee Retirees Association on Monday, Sept. 14, at the Highlands Golf Club west of Escanaba.
This will be the first chapter meeting of the year due to the COVID-19 restrictions put in place in March.
The meeting will begin with a noon luncheon and will include election of three board members for the chapter, an informational presentation by Blue Cross Blue Shield Retiree services manager Arva Overton and a presentation by SERA Statewide Chairperson Bob Kopasz.
All retired Michigan state employees are welcome to attend the luncheon and meeting. Cost of the luncheon will be $15. Those wishing to attend need to contact 906 SERA membership chair Edgar Sommers II at 906-250-5560.
906 SERA represents all Michigan state retirees in matters of medical care, mental health care, dental and vision and in prescription medications.
Those at the meeting will have the opportunity to have questions about these matters and the recently revised Michigan Automobile Insurance effects on retirees.
Members are allowed to bring friends and spouses to the meeting, but all must reserve seating with Sommers so the required seating conventions can be observed.
Monday is the deadline for reservations.
