Dentistry From the Heart on Feb. 20

Dr. John Fornetti works with a patient at last year’s Dentistry From the Heart event. This year’s event is planned from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20.

Iron Mountain — The John Fornetti Dental Center will present Dentistry From The Heart on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Dentistry From The Heart provides free dental care to those in need. Each year since 2001, dentists from around the country donate their time and services to provide free dental care to their communities.

Dr. John Fornetti, Dr. Dan Fornetti and Dr. Nicole Hartwig, along with their team of employees, volunteers and sponsors, will be hosting their 15th annual event. Those older than age 18 in need of dental care will be able to choose between one free extraction, filling or hygiene cleaning. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis until 3 p.m.

Masks are required to enter the building. Some waiting periods may briefly take place outside, so those taking part are encouraged to bundle up to stay warm. They also will abide by social distancing regulations.

Dr. Vincent J. Monticciolo, a dentist in New Port Richey, Fla., started Dentistry From The Heart in 2001 as a way to giving back to the community and provide aid to the growing number of Americans without dental insurance.

The John Fornetti Dental Center’s 2020 event was able to serve 103 people, providing more than 267 procedures and more than $42,000 in donated services.

Dentistry From The Heart will take place at The John Fornetti Dental Center, at 100 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain.
