Walk With Ease class starts in May

MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress will offer the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease program online for six weeks starting in late May.

Whether you need relief from arthritis pain or just want to be more active to improve overall health, this self-guided walking program provides online class support to help participants stay motivated and build confidence while learning to safely increase physical activity.

The six-week online course is designed with older adults in mind, but participants of all ages can benefit from walking. Those who can be on their feet for 10 minutes without increased pain can have success with Walk With Ease.

Online classes will be 2 to 3 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesdays from May 26 through June 30. Participants also can attend a Webex orientation at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, designed to prepare participants to attend virtually.

This online class is free, but a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet connection and email address is needed to participate.

To register, go to www.upcap.org or call 211 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for assistance.

Class size is limited. Registration is required by May 12.
