This year’s recipients of the Traditional Scholarship are Alexandra Nicole Hagan and McKenzie Lee Bray, both from Iron Mountain High School.

Hagan is the daughter of Laura and Mark Hagan and plans major in psychology at Northern Michigan University in Marquette.

Bray is the daughter of Margaret and Robert Bray and will attend St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis. She is undecided as to a major.

The Hoeffler Scholarship has been awarded to Teagan Rae Petschar, daughter of Sherri and Darren Petschar. Petschar attended Kingsford High School. She plans to major in English with a minor in biology at Saginaw Valley State University.

McKenzie Bray

The Traditional Scholarship is open to students living in the school districts of Iron Mountain, Breitung Township, North Dickinson County and Norway-Vulcan, plus Niagara and Florence County in Wisconsin. They are based on academic achievement, community and school activities and a written essay responding to the statement: “Describe one current women’s issue about which you are passionate. Discuss how this issue might be improved or resolved.”

The Hoeffler Scholarship is open to students attending Iron Mountain or Kingsford high schools who plan to major in the performing arts, visual arts, communication or English.

It is also awarded based on academic achievement, community and school activities, and a written essay responding to the question: “What are your aspirations in your chosen field of study and how do you plan to achieve them?”

AAUW Iron Mountain-Kingsford Branch is grateful to be able to offer these scholarships annually to deserving students.
