FLORENCE, Wis. -- The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Florence County is sponsoring a Powerful Tools for Caregivers workshop.
Sessions are scheduled from 1 to 2:30 p.m. every Tuesday for six weeks, starting Tuesday and extending through Oct. 19, in the lower-level conference room of the Florence Natural Resource Center, 5638 Forestry Drive in Florence.
This educational workshop series is designed to provide tools caregivers need to take care of themselves. Participants can learn how to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, better communicate feelings, balance life, increase the ability to make tough decisions and locate helpful resources.
Two knowledgeable leaders from the ADRC will conduct each class. Interactive lessons and discussions help caregivers take the "tools" they choose and put them into action for their lives.
The $10 registration fee includes the weekly sessions and "The Caregiver's Helpbook," a guide to help participants on the caregiving journey. Scholarships are available on request.
The ADRC of Florence County will provide free on-site respite care during the class. If their care recipient is unable to come to class with them, the ADRC may be able to provide reimbursement for other respite care.
Today is the deadline to register for this workshop. To register or for more information on the workshop, respite care or resources for caregivers, contact the ADRC by calling 715-528-4890, or by stopping in lower level room 125 at the Florence County Courthouse, 501 Lake Ave., between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
