Silver Tea fundraiser Saturday

IRON MOUNTAIN — Three new Fugi bicycles will be featured in the silent auction portion of the Silver Tea fundraiser set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to benefit the Carmelite Sisters of the Monastery of the Holy Cross in Iron Mountain.

The bicycles — a Fugi Rookie 12, a Fugi Rookie 16ST and a Fugi Absolute 2.9-19-inch — were donated by Build a Bicycle Therapy in Kingsford.

Other items in the silent auction include a Cuisinart toaster oven; two handmade quilts; a variety of framed pictures; two women’s handbags by Adrienne Vidtadin; a leaf blower; and a floral wall arrangement.

The Silver Tea fundraiser, which takes place each fall, is open to the public and draws hundreds of participants from throughout the area.

Supporters gather to take part in the major raffle, a basket raffle and to purchase crafts of all kinds, as well as the sisters’ famous homemade breads. This year’s fundraiser will be one day only, in tents, on the lawn of the monastery.

The major raffle will be at 3 p.m. and the winners need not be present.

This annual event is the only fundraiser to support the sisters.

To assist in the mission of the monastery, monetary donations can be made directly to the Monastery of the Holy Cross, P.O. Box 397, Iron Mountain, MI 49801.

Major raffle tickets are available in all of the Catholic parishes in the Diocese of Marquette.

For further information about the monastery and opportunities to provide support, call 906-774-0561.
