Donations for UP Veterans War Memorial lights

Iron Mountain -- Some Gave All and the War Memorial Committee are seeking donations to keep the lights on at the Upper Peninsula Veterans War Memorial atop Pine Mountain and have challenged Legion and Sons of the American Legion posts to make donations.

Past state SAL Commander Dennis Larson and his committee are caretakers of the memorial.

Kingsford SAL Squadron 363 recently presented a check for $1,200.

Several other donations have been received, including $1,000 from the Michigan SAL Detachment; $500 from Gladstone SAL Squadron 71; $500 from South Haven SAL Squad 49; $2,100 from Stambaugh SAL Post 21, the largest donation so far; and $500 from Menominee SAL 146.

Lights were added to the columns of personalized pavers at the memorial that represents U.P. veterans. Each paver is associated with the specific war or conflict.
