— K-9s and Law Enforcement at noon Saturday at the library in Iron Mountain.

Learn all about police dogs from Sgt. Adam Ray and K-9 Falcon of the Iron Mountain Police Department. This program is geared toward third through eighth grade students.

— Michigan Weird Winter Water Challenge kits may be picked up beginning Monday, Jan. 10.

These kits for adults and teens will challenge you to find eight strange natural events that often happen on Michigan’s Great Lakes during the winter. Participants will receive a booklet with information about each phenomenon, mittens, hot chocolate, snacks and a map of Michigan to help navigate to areas that may see these cool water wonders. Stop in or call the Iron Mountain library or North Dickinson Branch in Felch Township to claim your kit; kits can be sent to the Solomonson Branch by request. Everyone is encouraged to show photos of their finds on social media by using the hashtag #MIWeirdWinterWaterChallenge.

— Exploration Stations Winter Fun at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Solomonson Branch in Norway and 1 p.m. at the library in Iron Mountain.

Children in pre-school through second grad are invited to explore hands-on STEM activities all about winter and arctic animals. Craft kits will also be available to complete at the library or to take home. No registration is necessary.

— A Movie for Muggles from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the library in Iron Mountain.

Enjoy a movie and popcorn at the library as they screen the film “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.” All ages may watch the movie, but attendees in fourth through 12th grades may enter a drawing to win one of two tickets to the Dickinson Area Community Foundation’s “Christmas in the Wizarding World” dinner on Friday, Jan. 28, at the Pine Grove Country Club. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

— Registration opens Monday, Jan. 17, for Teen Subscription Boxes available for pickup on Monday, Feb. 7. Boxes have a different theme each month and include a library book, treats, some other fun items, and a book review form. Both the library book and the box must be returned, but participants may keep all other items. This is currently limited to the first five teen registrants each month. Please stop in at any branch to fill out a registration form in person. A new registration form must be filled out each month to receive the next subscription box. Registration always opens on the third Monday of each month, and boxes may be picked up at the library in Iron Mountain on the first Monday of the following month.
