Local students named to dean’s lists

ALBION, Mich. — Albion College announces students who were named to the dean’s list or who were named new Albion College Fellows at the end of the fall 2021 semester.

Dean’s list recognition goes to students with a full-time grade-point average of 3.5 or better in graded courses, while the honor of Albion College Fellow goes to students who achieve a 3.7 or better GPA over three consecutive semesters.

Iron Mountain student Monique Hernandez was named a new Albion College Fellow. Hernandez is majoring in biology with a minor in Spanish and is a member of the Prentiss M. Brown Honors Program. Hernandez is a resident of Iron Mountain and is a graduate of Kingsford High School.

Iron Mountain student Olivia Lorenzoni was named on the dean’s list. Lorenzoni is majoring in psychology and art and is a member of the Prentiss M. Brown Honors Program. Lorenzoni is the daughter of Jon and Elizabeth Lorenzoni of Iron Mountain and is a graduate of Kingsford High School.

Sagola student Eddie Cardew was named a new Albion College Fellow. Cardew is majoring in social studies-secondary education with a concentration in the Fritz Shurmur Center for Teacher Development. Cardew is a resident of Sagola and is a graduate of Kingsford High School.

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point honored more than 2,350 undergraduate students for attaining high grade-point averages during the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year.

Full-time undergraduates who earned grade points of 3.90 to 4.0 (4.0 equals straight A) are given the highest honors designation.

High honor citations go to those with grade-point averages from 3.75 to 3.89 and honor recognition is accorded to those with grade-point averages from 3.50 to 3.74.

Local students who received honors include:

Iron Mountain — Jovanna Erickson, senior, honors;

Kingsford — Madelyn Doucette, senior, highest honors;

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Southern New Hampshire University congratulates these students on being named to the Fall 2021 President’s List.

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 or higher are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits; undergraduate day students must earn 12 credits in the fall or spring semester, and online students must earn 12 credits in either EW1 and EW2, EW3 and EW4, or EW5 and EW6.

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls fall semester Dean’s List honoring 1,670 students has been released by Registrar Kelly Browning.

To be named to the dean’s list, a full-time undergraduate must earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a scale of 4.0, or midway between an “A” and “B” average.

Local students include:

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. — Teagan Petschar of Kingsford is among more than 600 students from Saginaw Valley State University to earn a spot on the fall 2021 semester president’s list.

To be eligible for the president’s list, a student must take at least 12 credit hours and earn a 4.0 grade-point average.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Iron River senior Summer Parent has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill.,

Students who have earned this academic honor have maintained a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for courses taken during the semester.

Parent is majoring in pre-medicine. She graduated from West Iron County Public Schools with the Class of 2018. She is the granddaughter of Roger and Debra Bloom of Iron River, Arthur and Julie Panick of Kingsford, and Ken and Pam Parent of Iron Mountain.

Summer is also a member of the Stambaugh Legion Auxiliary Reino Unit 21.

OSHKOSH, Wis. — University of Wisconsin Oshkosh officials have released the names of students who qualified for the dean’s list and honor roll in fall 2021 across its three campuses (Fond du Lac, Fox Cities and Oshkosh).

The term grade-point average requirement for university honor roll is 3.3; the term GPA requirement for dean’s list is 3.75 out of a possible 4.0.

To qualify, a student must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits. There can be no individual grades below a “C” and no incomplete or non-reported grades at the time the process is run.

Iron Mountain — Colin Visintainer, honor roll;

Kingsford — Josephine Yost, honor roll;

MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Madison has recognized students named to the dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year.

Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean at the close of each semester. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester.

Each university school or college sets its own GPA requirements for students to be eligible to receive the distinction. Most call the honor “dean’s list,” but some grant the “dean’s honor list” and “dean’s high honor list.”

Local students on the list include:

LA CROSSE, Wis. — Austin Tripp of Niagara, Wis., an exercise and sport science major with an exercise science — pre-professional track, has been named to the dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for the fall semester of the 2021-22 academic year, ending December 2021.

Qualification for the dean’s list is limited to students who have attained outstanding academic achievement. To be eligible, students must have earned not less than a 3.5 semester grade-point average and carried a minimum of 12 credits.

CROOKSTON, Minn. — Eden Golliher from Iron River has been named to the fall semester 2021 chancellor’s list announced recently by the Office of the Registrar.

To qualify for a place on the chancellor’s list, students must complete 12 or more letter-graded (A-F) credits while attaining a 4.00 grade-point average.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Peyton Ritchie of Niagara, Wis., was among the 678 students who received a diploma from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire during commence ceremonies in December. Of the degrees awarded, 676 were received by students attending the Eau Claire campus and two were received by students attending UW-Eau Claire-Barron County.

Ritchie received a bachelor of business administration degree.

Vulcan — Carson Lagina, junior, actuarial science.

KENOSHA, Wis. — Carthage College has named Balen Mautone of Iron Mountain and Macy Edwards of Kingsford to its dean’s list for academic excellence during the fall 2021 semester.

Dean’s list honors are accorded to Carthage students who achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average while carrying at least 14 credit hours during a semester.
