MARQUETTE -- Preparations are underway for the 23rd annual Downtown Marquette Blueberry Festival, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern time Friday, July 29, in downtown Marquette.
The 100 block of West Washington Street, the 100 and 200 blocks of South Front Street and West Main Street will have sidewalk sales, food vendors, artists, musicians, pony rides and more.
Downtown restaurants can satisfy cravings for blueberry fare, from blueberry pizza to blueberry beer, while many downtown shops offer will offer "blue" specials.
Music will fill the streets as live musicians perform throughout the day at three locations: near the Phil Niemisto Pocket Park on West Washington Street, near the corner of Front and Washington streets, and near the Rosewood Walkway on South Front Street.
The Blueberry Festival music schedule --
-- 10 a.m.: Bayou Chocolat Cajun Band, Washington and Front intersection performance area;
-- 11 a.m.: Chris Valenti, Phil Niemisto Pocket Park performance area;
-- 11:30 a.m.: Jason Elsenbroek, Rosewood Walkway performance area;
-- 1 p.m.: Marlee Mathews, Washington and Front intersection performance area;
-- 2 p.m.: Delta Trio, Phil Niemisto Pocket Park performance area;
-- 2:30 p.m.: Blue Champagne, Rosewood Walkway performance area;
-- 4 p.m.: Blackberry Jam, Washington and Front intersection performance area;
-- 5 p.m.: Arielle Who?, Phil Niemisto Pocket Park performance area;
-- 5 p.m.: Jenn Copeman, Rosewood Walkway performance area;
-- 6 p.m.: Wil Kilpela and Friends, Washington and Front intersection performance area.
