NORWAY -- Amy Shreve will perform a concert at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at the Community Bible Chapel of Norway.
Shreve, a well-known singer, songwriter and harpist, will be joined by her husband/producer Gary Wixtrom, backing her with guitars and mandolin.
She has performed with ukulele, guitar and piano on stage as early as 5 years old. At 11, she began mastering the harp. Graduating with a music degree from Wheaton College in Illinois, she landed in Nashville to pursue a music career. After signing her first record contract with Sparrow, she was immediately signed as a staff writer at Birdwing music, where she honed her skills as a writer.
She has opened for many well-known musicians and has recorded 16 records for six companies. She has been nominated for a Dove Award.
Her musical influences are Michael Card, Counting Crows, Lifehouse and Evanescence. Several Irish artists, including Enya, have helped her develop her musical style. Co-writing and arranging with her husband has added a pop element to the music. The result is an appealing alternative sound.
Shreve is coming out with a studio album in 2022 and at this concert will be previewing material from the project. Her latest release, "The God of All Hope," is the last in a series of anthology albums.
Some of her familiar song titles are "Beautiful Scars," "Afraid of the Dark" and "The God of All Grace."
Shreve tours the U.S., Canada and Europe. She speaks and performs at churches, universities and conferences. Shreve has led worship at more than 200 conferences for "The Voice of the Martyrs."
In 2015, she and her family found themselves in the midst of a tragic health situation that God used to test their faith and trust in Him. Through the good and the bad, Shreve's music holds forth that we have a good God. Her message of God's perfect peace in the midst of difficulty will comfort and encourage all who attend this concert.
Community Bible Chapel is at W6507 U.S. 2, between Quinnesec and Norway.
