Community chorus practices start in September
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Community Chorus will begin its annual Christmas season with the first rehearsal scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.
This rehearsal will begin preparations for the Sounds of Christmas concert. Rehearsals will be Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church, 395 Hamilton Ave. in Kingsford.
The Christmas concert will be presented Nov. 28-29 at the Kingsford High School auditorium.
The chorus will be under the leadership of principal conductor Crystal Hogan. Jean Panek and Jan Van Gasse will serve as piano accompanists for the group.
Dawn Kranz will serve as an assistant conductor and children’s chorus director and Jeremiah Garrigues-Cortelyou will be an assistant conductor and ensemble director.
“We have planned an outstanding selection of music that will be exciting for singers and audience alike,” Hogan said.
There is no charge for membership in the chorus, and there are no auditions. However, prospective new members should possess some knowledge of choral singing and be able to attend most rehearsals.
The children’s chorus will begin rehearsals at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, and will continue on the same nights as the adult choir.
