Crystal Gayle to perform Saturday

CRYSTAL FALLS — Crystal Gayle, one of the most popular female country singers of her era, takes the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Crystal Theatre in Crystal Falls.

Gayle was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in January 2017 and her career and talent are legendary.

She has recorded 22 No. 1 country singles and 34 top 10 singles.

She also had four top 20 pop singles, including “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” “Talking In Your Sleep,” “Half the Way” and “You and I” (duet with Eddie Rabbit).

Her hit “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” won a Grammy award and was also recognized by American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers as one of the top 10 most-performed country songs of the century.

She was the first female country artist to achieve platinum album sales (“We Must Believe In Magic”) and was named the most performed country female artist on radio for the 10 years, from 1975-1985.

She was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry by sister Loretta Lynn and was the recipient of the Academy of Country Music 2016 Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award which honors individuals who are pioneers in country music.
