FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence County Historical Society recently had a quilt raffle. Winning tickets were drawn by Joan Spears.
Spears, a quilter and organizer of a quilt group in Florence, Wis., donated the quilt to the society.
Tickets for the fundraiser were sold through the summer months at the museum and at their annual Quilt Show and Strawberry Society in July.
Winners were: Cheryl Gilson, quilt; Paula Petesch, Amish rug; Stephanie Weber, quilted purse; and Vonnie Van Pembrook, cedar plant hanger.
The society expressed appreciation to individuals who donated prizes to help make the raffle a success: Joan Spears, Chris Trudell, Matt Dagostino and Donnette Salzcenko. The raffle, along with the Strawberry Social and Quilt Show, are the major fundraisers for the society.
Funds are used to preserve Florence County artifacts and to develop new exhibits for the museum each year.
