Florence County Historical Society to meet Wednesday

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall of St. John’s Church on Olive Avenue in Florence. This will be the last meeting for the year.

This date is different from the usual second Tuesday. The museum has closed for the season.

The group will review activities from this past summer, which included a recognition of area veterans, the quilt raffle and Strawberry Social, and tours of the museum, courthouse and former jail by the fourth-grade students.

The new exhibit for the museum was “Out of the Past,” a collection of miscellaneous items of interest taken from the Florence Mining News.

Approximately 200 individuals and families visited the museum this year to take a peek at Florence County history.

The meeting’s agenda will focus on ideas for the organization in 2023, including new exhibits and activities.

The society does have a Facebook page and a website. They will be looking for someone to help with the website.

Interested individuals are welcome to attend the meeting. Those who have ideas for an activity or interesting exhibit can share with a member of the society.
