Inaugural comedy festival in Marquette

Marquette -- A new festival is coming to Marquette in November that will highlight the best stand-up comics in the region.

The Stand U.P. Comedy Festival will take place at the Ore Dock Brewing Co. Thursday through Friday in Marquette. There will be six shows over three nights, featuring 12 stand-up comics in the country. Tickets are now on sale online at NMU Tickets, https://nmu.universitytickets.com.

"It makes sense to have a comedy festival in this great city that hosts many great festivals throughout the year. Our long-term vision is to make this festival a top regional comedy festival that draws some of the best stand-up talent in the country," co-organizer Vincent Schultz said. "We have such a great lineup in the works for the inaugural event; it's going to be a great three days of stand-up comedy in Marquette."

"Stand-up comedy is an art, and Marquette is rich with its support of all the arts. Why not have an annual comedy festival right here in the Upper Peninsula?" co-organizer, Bryan Sromalski added.

The lineup for the Stand U.P. Comedy Festival:

Thursday

-- 7:30 p.m. feature: Dwight Simmons; headliner: Brent Terhune;

-- 9:30 p.m. feature: Joe Fernandez; headliner: Adam Burke;

Friday

-- 7:30 p.m. feature: Ella Horwedel; headliner: Sam Rager;

-- 9:30 p.m. feature: Mike Bobbitt; headliner: DJ Dangler;

Saturday

-- 7:30 p.m. feature: Tyler Ross; headliner: Marz Timms;

-- 9:30 p.m. feature: Nick Leydorf; headliner Mike Stanley.

An all-access pass is $65 and offers access to all six shows. Nightly pass are $25 for access to both shows for the night, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Show pass for $15 offers general access for one show.
