IRON MOUNTAIN -- Cheryl Richer, organizer of the Breast Ball Golf Outing, and breast cancer survivor, recently presented the staff of Marshfield-Dickinson Hematology Oncology with a $668 check. Funds were raised from the annual golf event at Oak Crest Golf Course, as well as from raffles and a 50-50 drawing.

Ericka Burklund, RN, who works closely with cancer patients, reported the money raised would go toward items that will directly assist in patients' financial and physical well-being.

Some items that will be purchased are gas cards for out-of-town travel, head coverings, clothing that would accommodate patients having a port, blankets, socks and cold therapy mittens to aid in neuropathy.

This event first started with Spike Gordon and continues because of Richer's passion for helping local cancer patients.
