Students visit museum

Aaron Yonke photo Sixteen Kingsford High School students from Aaron Yonke’s Upper Peninsula History class toured the Cornish Pumping Engine & Mining Museum and the World War II Glider & Military Museum. Bill Cummings, Menominee Range Historical Foundation president and historian, served as the guide, explaining the role iron mining, logging and lumbering and the Iron Mountain Ford Motor Company Plant in Kingsford played in this area. Cummings stated that providing free tours to area school groups helps fulfill that goal. The museum’s 1939 Ford Deluxe “Woodie” Station Wagon and the trunk of the 1946 Ford “Woodie” Sportsman Convertible are visible at the right. Military uniform displays line the south wall and the tip of the CG-4A glider’s right wing can be seen in the background.

Starting at $3.50/week.
