Foucault Brothers at CF library Friday

Paul and Roy Foucault will give a free concert Friday at the Crystal Falls District Community Library.

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Crystal Falls District Community Library will host a performance by the Foucault Brothers at 6 p.m. Friday.

Paul and Roy Foucault form this acoustic-oriented brother duo that has a knack for taking a song and putting their own homespun spell on the music. They present a nice, organic blend with tasteful interpretations of old time and contemporary songs. Roy plays lead guitar and adds a sweet vibe on his solo work on both acoustic and electric guitar.

The older brother, Paul, usually takes lead on vocals as well as playing guitar. Paul also likes to get his resonator guitar — also know as a dobro — into the mix. The dobro and flat-top guitar combination bring about some very entertaining arrangements.

These brothers fit the phrase “Americana” as they move smoothly between a wide variety of music, from classic country tunes to jazzy ’40s classics.

To top it off, the brothers like to have a good time when they play and usually try to include a good dose of self-deprecating humor along with their musical presentation.

The Friends of the Library will provide refreshments, and all are welcome to attend.

The Crystal Falls District Community Library is at 237 Superior Ave. in downtown Crystal Falls. For more information, contact Evelyn Gathu at 906-875-3344 or egathu@crystalfallslibrary.org.
