Garden grant
The Dickinson Area Community Foundation recently awarded a $500 Community Impact Grant to Breitung Township Schools. This was partially made possible with a matching grant from the Pasahow family fund. The grant will be used to establish a native and pollinator garden and orchard on the grounds at Woodland Elementary School. The project will entail planting 14 raised beds and 14 dwarf apple trees for educational use. DACF Director Tamara Juul, left, presents the check to Liz Slajus, Michigan State University Extension advanced master gardener. The mission of the community foundation is to improve the quality of life for the residents of local communities, For more information on available grant funding or current needs in the community, contact Juul at 906-774-3131.
