FLORENCE, Wis. -- The Florence County Historical Society will host its annual Strawberry Social and Quilt Show on Saturday.
Strawberry shortcake and a beverage will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the patio and grounds of Maxsells Suites and Celebrations, 209 Central Ave./U.S. 2 in Florence. Cost is $5 a serving.
A new array of quilts will be on display in Maxsells, a restored historic home. There is no charge to view the quilt show.
Those who want to tour the home with Rachel Egelseer can do so for a donation to the historical society of $3 per person or $5 for a couple.
This event and a raffle are the major fundraising activities for the historical society.
Local quilter Joan Spears has donated a lap quilt that has been long-arm quilted by Patti Wabitsch to be raffled off.
Other raffle prizes include a colorful Amish-style, hand-braided rug made by Pattie Gehlhoff, a handmade pizza paddle from Matt Dagostino, a quilted purse made by Donnette Salczenko and engraved insulated cups made by Mary Brunette.
The raffle drawing will be Sept. 1. Raffle tickets will be available at the quilt show and from members for $1 each or six tickets for $5. You do not have to be present to win.
