NORWAY -- A presentation and slide show about "Klondike Mike" Mahoney will be given by Carol Sundstrom and her husband, Martin Straka, at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Norway City Hall.
Klondike Mike was a legendary figure. His life and adventures in Alaska and the Klondike during the gold rushes are the stuff of a Jack London novel.
Because of his extraordinary strength, physical endurance and courage, he accomplished incredible feats.
These skills began in the town of Norway. His grandfather was Patrick O'Callaghan, the patriarch of an important pioneering family of Norway.
This is an opportunity to hear this fascinating story of the gold rush days that was first presented at the Upper Peninsula History Conference in June.
