Walking tour Thursday in Florence

FLORENCE, Wis. — A guided walk of the historic buildings in Florence that are featured in the Florence County Historical Society Walking Tour booklet is scheduled at 6 p.m. for Thursday.

The walk will start at the Museum located on 201 Florence Ave. and across U.S. 2 from Steamin’ Joe’s Coffee Shop. A midway rest and refreshment stop at the Encore on Central, hosted by Rachel and Don Egelseer, will also include a brief history and tour of the Encore. The walk will take about an hour and a half and is a little over a mile. So, wear your comfy walking shoes and join the tour. There is no charge for the walk, but donations that support items needed for displays and exhibits are appreciated. In case of rain, the walk will be canceled.

The tour booklet, which also offers a map for a self- guided walk, is available for $5 at the museum on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

There is still time to purchase your tickets for the society’s annual fundraising raffle. The winners will be drawn on Saturday, Sept. 2. You do not need to be present to win, however, prizes do need to be picked up at the museum.

See a member or stop in at the museum to get tickets to win a beautiful lap throw quilt, hand crafted rug, quilted purse, wooden pizza paddle, engraved insulated cups and an etched bread board. All prizes have been made and donated by local crafters.

Starting at $3.50/week.
