Iron Mountain Homecoming activities listed

IRON MOUNTAIN -- Iron Mountain High School will celebrate Homecoming 2023 with a variety of activities for students, staff, alumni and community members beginning today through Saturday.

Events today include Pajama Day district-wide; girls varsity tennis against Escanaba High School at 3 p.m., Iron Mountain East Side Tennis Courts; girls volleyball verses Escanaba High School, with freshmen at 3:30 p.m., junior varsity at 4:30 and varsity at 6 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Admission is free for Mountaineer students

Tuesday is Dress As a Celebrity Day for fifth through 12th grades and Jersey Day for early kindergarten through fourth grades. The boys varsity soccer team will take on Escanaba High School at 5 p.m. in Mountaineer Stadium, with free admission for Mountaineer students courtesy of the IM Soccer Club; girls middle school basketball against Niagara Middle School at 5 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

Wednesday is Color Day district-wide. The class colors include: early kindergarten, red; kindergarten, green; first, white; second, black; third, yellow; fourth, orange; fifth, yellow; sixth, orange; seventh, pink; eighth, purple; ninth, red; 10th, green; 11th, white; 12th, black; staff, blue. The Powderpuff Football Game will be at 6 p.m. at the stadium, with free admission. Concessions will be available.

Thursday is Beach Day for fifth through 12th grades, and Black and Gold Day for early kindergarten through fourth grades. North Elementary School will have a pep rally in the afternoon. The girls middle school basketball team plays West Iron County Middle School at 5:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

Friday it will be Black and Gold Day for fifth through 12th grades and Beach Day for early kindergarten through fourth grades, The Homecoming pep rally will be in the high school gym for fifth through 12th grades, hosted by the IMHS Student Council and featuring varsity athletes and the IMHS pep band.

Homecoming Tailgate with free concessions, hosted by IMHS Student Council, will be 5 to 5:45 p.m. The Homecoming game against Manistique High School starts at 6 p.m. at the stadium, with admission free for Mountaineer students.

Fans are encouraged to participate in a "Glow out" theme. At halftime, the 2023 Homecoming Court will be introduced and the 2023 Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.

Saturday, the Homecoming Dance, hosted by the student council with a theme of "Under the Sea," will be from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and will close for admittance at 8:30 p.m. in Izzo Mariucci Center/IMHS Gymnasium. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door, open to Iron Mountain High School and grades nine through 12 Iron Mountain Homeschool Partnership Students, as well as their guests. Applications are due by 3 p.m. Wednesday. No shoes are allowed on the gym floor, so those attending should bring socks. DJ services will be provided by Taylored Weddings.

Members of the Iron Mountain High School Homecoming Court, as nominated by their classmates, include: seniors Ashlyn Bal, Emily Copley, Aylah Hoffman, Mallory Maracini, McKinlee Peterson, Madison Powell, Nikolai Burgoon, Matthew Colavecchi, Connor Owens, Fulton Stroud, Alex Wilson and Tyler Winch; juniors Macy Linsenbigler, Cali Picucci, Oskar Kangas and Jomar Rosario; sophomores Lucy Baumgartner, Neveah Ross, Connor Maynard and Di'Angelo Saldana; and freshman Emma Bouchard, Alysia Wood, Charles Anderson and Brayden Kassin.
