MARQUETTE -- Two Powerful Tools for Caregivers workshops have been scheduled in September -- one is online and the other is in-person in Marquette.
The in-person workshops are 1:30 to 3 p.m. Eastern time Wednesdays from Sept. 13 to Oct. 18 at Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice, 914 W. Baraga Ave. in Marquette.
The online course is 2 to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time Thursdays from Sept. 21 to Oct. 26.
Class size is limited. To register, go to www.upcap.org and click on EVENTS, or call 211 for assistance. The workshops are free, with class materials provided.
This six-week workshop is designed for non-professional, informal caregivers, and will help them better take care of themselves while caring for a parent, spouse or friend at home, in a nursing home, or across the country.
This workshop will provide caregivers tools to: reduce stress and relax; make tough decisions; reduce guilt, anger, and depression; communicate effectively with family members, doctors, paid help; take care of yourself; set goals; and problem-solve.
The workshop is offered in partnership with Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress, or UPCAP, and Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice.
