Tappy receives veterinary degree

KINGSFORD — Cal and Beth Tappy of Kingsford have announced their daughter, Mercedes Tappy, has graduated from Ross University with a doctorate of veterinary medicine degree.

Tappy lived on the island of St. Kitts for three years while attending Ross University and finished her last year of clinics at the University of Illinois.

Tappy, who is interested in exotics, will be moving to South Carolina to practice.

She was a 2013 graduate of Kingsford High School.

MILWAUKEE — Devon Lantagne of Niagara, Wis., has joined the faculty at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Lantagne is a visiting assistant professor and will teach biomedical engineering courses in the university’s electrical engineering and computer science department.

Lantagne earned his bachelor of science in biomedical engineering from MSOE in 2016 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in biomedical engineer from Marquette University.

He brings more than six years of teaching experience in embedded systems and biomedical instrumentation. His areas of specialization include the contributions of sensorimotor memories used in motor adaptation in humans, robotics programming (in C and MATLAB), state machines, failsafe design, signal processing and linear and nonlinear modeling.

Lantagne received the Vincent R. Canino Outstanding Biomedical Engineering Senior Student Award from MSOE in 2016. He received the Program Chairman’s Award at the Rocky Mountain Bioengineering Symposium and Great Lakes Biomedical Conference in 2019, and in 2021 was named Outstanding Teaching Assistant in Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University.
