Sleepy Storytimes at the Dickinson County Library

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Library’s schedule of activities for October include —
— Friends of the Library Book Sale, through Sunday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

— Lego Club Jr: 4 p.m. today at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Calling all budding engineers. Kids from age 2 to kindergarten will be challenged to build items that are Halloween or fall themed.
— Sleepy Storytimes: 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 17, 24 and 31 at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain; 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Solomonson Branch in Norway.
These storytime sessions for children through age 5 include stories, songs, and crafts to build early literacy. Children can wear their pajamas and get comfortable while Miss Amanda reads bedtime favorites such as “The Napping House,” “No Sleep for Sheep” and more. No registration is required.
— Just Doh It: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Join them for this play dough club that provides guided and independent activities such as letter formation, shape identification and more for ages 3 to 5. Playing with play dough is a great activity to build fine motor skills and encourages children’s language and literacy, science and math skills, all at the same time.
— Gamers’ Club: 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the Solomonson Branch in Norway; 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the North Dickinson Branch in Felch Township; and 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Calling all video game enthusiasts in third through eighth grades, who can play a variety of video games at this monthly program. No registration is required.
— Write On: 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Adults and teens are invited to join this writers’ group that focuses on providing an encouraging and supportive space for all types of writers. This month participants will be given the prompt “It Was a Dark and Stormy Night.” Kits will be available at all three library sites and an in-person program held at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain for those who would like a dedicated time to write.

Adults are invited to discuss this month’s selection, “Winter’s Bone” by Daniel Woodrell. New members are always welcome to join the book club.
— Solomonson Branch Book Club: 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Solomonson Branch in Norway.
Adults are invited to discuss this month’s selection, “The Maid” by Nita Prose. New members are always welcome to join book club.
— The Children’s Room at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain will be closed to browsing starting at noon Thursday, Oct. 26, for a program set up. Library staff will assist with getting items for patrons.
— Minecraft Adventure: 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Participants in third through eighth grades will work together to solve clues and play activities to get through this “Minecraft”- themed adventure. Some activities include sword crafting, a ghost attack, defeating creepers, escaping the Nether, and destroying a portal. — Ghoulie Glowing Golfing: noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Visit the library during Downtown Iron Mountain’s Pumpkin Walk for glow-in-the-dark mini-golf and Halloween-themed crafts galore. Kids of all ages are invited to participate — register for a tee time in advance to skip the line, starting this Saturday by calling 906-774-1218.
