Local students named to college dean’s lists

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire named 2,778 students to the fall 2023 dean's list.

Local students named to the dean's list include:

Iron Mountain -- Macy McCormick, College of Education and Human Sciences;

Niagara, Wis. -- Bailey Broullire, College of Nursing and Health Sciences;

Norway -- Danae Anderson, College of Education and Human Sciences; Averie Popp, College of Education and Human Sciences.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- Sadie Milbrath of Vulcan donned a white coat in an iconic ceremony that marks the final step toward becoming a primary care family nurse practitioner.

Milbrath was among 27 students in the primary care family nurse practitioner program at Saginaw Valley State University who participated in the white coat ceremony on Aug. 28.

The white coat ceremony reaffirms the science and health care community's support of the educational process that prepares future health providers for practice.

MILWAUKEE -- Rudi Passamani of Iron River was among the 1,470 prospective candidates for degree attending University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee commencement exercises Dec. 17.

He graduated from the Peck School of the Arts with a bachelor of fine arts.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Jack Gasperich of Crystal Falls qualified for Belmont University's fall 2023 dean's list. Approximately 52 percent of Belmont's 7,338 undergraduate students qualified.

Dean's list eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

MILWAUKEE -- Luisa Munoz Ozzello of Kingsford has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2023 semester at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Munoz Ozzello is pursuing a bachelor of science in biomedical sciences.

To make the dean's list, students must have earned at least 12 credits for the fall 2023 semester and have no disqualifying grades. The grade-point average threshold varies by college -- for the College of Education and the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, undergraduate students must have at least a 3.7 to be named to the dean's list.

The undergraduate GPA requirement is 3.5 for these colleges: the Diederich College of Communication, the College of Business Administration, the College of Health Sciences, the Opus College of Engineering and the College of Nursing. All other programs have a 3.75 GPA minimum.

SUPERIOR, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Superior has named Katherine Mentel of Kingsford to the dean's list for academic achievement during the fall 2023 semester.

To be named to the dean's list, students must have completed 12 degree-seeking semester credits and achieved at least a 3.50 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point honored more than 2,500 undergraduate students for attaining high grade-point averages during the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year.

Full-time undergraduates who earned grade points of 3.90 to 4.0 are given the highest honors designation. High honor citations go to those with grade-point averages from 3.75 to 3.89 and honor recognition is accorded to those with grade-point averages from 3.50 to 3.74.

Local students who received honors include:

Florence, Wis. -- Caitlyn Kelley, honors;

Norway -- Eric Alfredson, high honors;

Quinnesec -- Eric Sommerfeld, highest honors.

A minimum 3.5 grade-point average is required for academic eligibility.

MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Madison has recognized students named to the dean's list for the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year.

Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean at the close of each semester. To be eligible, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester. Each university school or college sets its own grade-point average requirements.

Local students on the list include:

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Michael Halley of Kingsford, a political science major at Grove City College, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2023 semester.

Halley is a 2020 graduate of Veritas Scholars Academy and is the son of Michael and Jacquelyn Halley of Kingsford.

Students eligible for the dean's list have a grade-point average of 3.40 to 3.59; for the dean's list with distinction, a GPA of 3.60 to 3.84; and for the dean's list with high distinction, a GPA of 3.85 to 4.0.

MENOMONIE, Wis.-- Jordyn Springer of Florence, Wis., has been named to the University of Wisconsin-Stout dean's list for the fall 2023 semester. She is seeking a bachelor of science degree in dietetics.

The award is presented to students who have a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
