LINDSAY PETERSON

IRON MOUNTAIN — Lindsay Peterson was the speaker at the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Women’s Club luncheon meeting.

Her topic was “Yard and Garden Invasive Species.”

Peterson is the coordinator for the Wild Rivers Invasive Species Coalition, a cooperative invasive species management partnership operating throughout a five-county region in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and northeastern Wisconsin.

Peterson has been with WRISC since 2015, after graduating from Northland College with a bachelor of science in environmental geosciences, with an emphasis in water science.

Peterson is committed to raising awareness of invasive species and their effects while working to protect the wilderness she grew up with.

In her time with WRISC, Peterson has managed more than 25 invasive species grant projects for approximately $1.5 million in funding, all with the aim of educating, monitoring and managing invasive species.

Her goal is to create an adaptable organization that can adopt effective conservation practices in a sustainable way for years to come.
