Wild Rivers Quilt Guild meets Tuesday

Some examples of selvage quilt edges. Selvage edges will be the topic of the Wild Rivers Quilt Guild meeting Tuesday.

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Wild Rivers Quilt Guild invites all area quilters to attend upcoming meeting on Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 900 Central Ave., at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Highway 101 at the west end of Florence.

Member Rose Soderberg will explain how to make amazing blocks and quilts using the selvage edges of fabrics. Selvage are edges produced on woven fabric during manufacture that prevents it from unravelling.

She will explain how to cut the right width of the selvage to make it more beneficial for a project. She will also suggest ways to organize the fabric selvages to make it easier once a project has been decided.

She will also show how to sew them in a way so they become durable projects and lots of quilting fun. She will bring samples of ways to use them to add interest to everyday items.
