Vouchers available for Wisconsin Senior Farmers’ Market Program

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Wisconsin Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program allows seniors the opportunity to purchase fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from certified farmers.

Eligible individuals can receive $45 each in Farmer’s Market Vouchers once per year. The vouchers can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from participating farmers markets until the end of October.

Eligibility —

— Florence County resident;

— Age 60 or older, or a Native American age 55 or older;

— Gross household income less than 185% of the federal poverty level: one-person household $2,322 a month; two-person household $3,152 a month; for each additional member, add $830 a month.

The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Florence County will be distributing these vouchers at these locations, at the following dates and times (note that the dates and times for Aurora and Fence have changed from a previous news release due to facility maintenance) —

— Tipler Meal Site, 11102 Dream Lake Road, 11 a.m. Thursday;

­– Aurora Meal Site, Woodland Cafe, 2030 Calvary Drive, 1 p.m. Tuesday.

— Fence Meal Site, 588 Memory Lane, 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19.

Distribution will also be done at the ADRC office during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants are asked to call ahead to make an appointment.

Be advised that there are a limited number of vouchers and they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals can designate someone else to receive the check vouchers as a proxy.
