Frank Perino, center, who turns 96 next week, was honored for 70 years as a member of Legion Post 50 in Iron Mountain. He is the longest-serving member in Post 50 history. Perino served in the Korean War, where he was member of an engineering unit that constructed runways and roads for rapid deployment forces. After the war he worked as a diesel mechanic for Cummings. He married his late wife, Barbara, in 1953 and she passed away in 2023. He currently lives in Green Bay. Perino said he joined the Legion because his father was a member and told him he should join. Because he traveled a lot for work, he wasn’t always able to attend meetings, he said. From left are Dennis Larson, Sons of the American Legion; Jim Richards, commander; Perino; Robert Massicotte, post adjutant; and Jerry Hicks, past commander.

Starting at $3.50/week.
