Strawberry Social and Quilt Show on Saturday

FLORENCE, Wis. — Summer days have arrived and it is time for the Florence County Historical Society’s annual Quilt Show and Strawberry Social from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Maxsell’s Celebrations and Suites, 209 Central Ave. in Florence.

A lovely variety of quilts and quilted items will be displayed in the beautifully restored historic home, while delicious strawberry shortcake will be served outdoors for you to enjoy on the patio overlooking Fisher Lake. Intermittent tours of the home also will be offered.

This event and a raffle are the major fundraising activities of the historical society. Local quilter Joan Spears has made and donated a lovely quilt that has been long-arm quilted by Patti Wabitsch. Other donated raffle prizes include a colorful Amish-style hand-braided rug made by Pattie Gehlhoff; a handmade carryall bag made by Donnette Salczenko; a hanging planter made by Matt Dagostino; a cutting board made by Mary Brunette; a bird house made by Don Sjoquist; a hummingbird feeder made by Roger Newhouse; and engraved insulated cups made by Ryan Chiamulera.

Raffle tickets will be available at the quilt show and from members for $1 each or six tickets for $5. The drawing is set for Sept. 6 and the person does not have to be present to win. However, prizes have to be picked up.

The historical society encourages local quilters to show their quilts or quilted items at this event. For more information, call Debbie at 715-528-3597 or Karen at 715-528-4744.

Starting at $3.50/week.
