Art reception Tuesday at The Braumart
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Iron Mountain Public Arts Advisory is sponsoring an art reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at The Braumart in Iron Mountain.
Art by Zahra Wicks, a sophomore at Iron Mountain High School, will be featured.
Wicks is a talented student-athlete with a passion for creativity. She excels in various mediums, with a particular fondness for working with charcoal pencil. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and relaxing at the beach.
There will also be poetry readings with music provided by bass player Dave Falls.
Falls is trying to provide a musical platform for writers to share and promote their work or for readers to share their favorite lines.
“Most people seem nervous to read in front of a crowd and my experience has been that playing supportive background music puts the reader more at ease and creates an atmosphere,” Falls said. “I am also trying to grow as a musician, and this is a new and interesting challenge for me. I am excited to see where it goes.”
Iron Mountain Public Arts Advisory is led by Sarah Rice. She provides a voice for promoting the local creative community. Rice has a passion for the arts and culture experience that adds to the quality of day-to-day life in the Iron Mountain area.
She is also an active board member for the Friends of The Braumart project.
Appetizers and beverages will be provided from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is encouraged to come to The Braumart on Tuesday, to support these talented local artists.
