Walking tour of Florence planned for Thursday
FLORENCE, Wis. — Ever wondered about some of the historic buildings in the town of Florence? Who lived there? What business originated there?
To learn a little history, plan to come along for a leisurely stroll around the town Thursday. The guided walk will begin at 2 p.m. at the Historical Society Museum, which is on the corner of Central Avenue and U.S. 2.
Midway through the walk, which is a bit over a mile, there will be a brief refreshment break and rest stop at the Encore on Central.
The walk features the Historical Florence Walking Tour booklet that contains pictures and brief commentaries on 37 historic properties.
It will be available for sale for $5 the day of the walk and also at the museum from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
There is no charge for the guided walk; however, donations to support the historical society are always appreciated.
